Note to Self: A Journey of Becoming

This isn’t just a story about healing — it’s about becoming". I'm Sylvie, and this is how Note to Self was born.

I didn’t set out to build a self-growth platform. I set out to heal.

I’ve always loved personal development — the books, the seminars, the deep conversations that help you peel back the layers and grow. That curiosity became a lifeline after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Surviving that chapter changed everything. It cracked me open and asked me to rebuild from the inside out.

Then came COVID — and with it, a strange stillness. Instead of breaking me, it gave me space to go even deeper. I doubled down on growth, not just to feel better, but to be better. I stopped chasing happiness as a final destination and started anchoring myself in peace, clarity, truth and emotional growth.

It all started with quotes — notes I left for myself on mirrors, walls, journals, and digital boards. Little reminders that pulled me back to who I wanted to be. Note to Self grew out of that quiet, daily ritual. It wasn’t a brand idea; it was how I stayed connected to myself when everything else felt uncertain.

The phoenix became my companion in this process. Not just a pretty symbol, but something that made me feel understood. It spoke to the part of me that had burned through pain and come back wiser, softer, more grounded. That’s why it lives in the logo — not for decoration, but as a mirror for anyone who’s ever had to rebuild.

The most unexpected gift came when I was asked to share what I’d learned with teens. That moment lit a fire I didn’t know I had. Because the truth is, we all go through transitions; but no one teaches us how. No one shows us how our brains evolve, how emotions work, or how to build a relationship with ourselves in a chaotic world. And yet, these are the very things that help us move from survival to self-leadership.

That’s why I created Note to Self — not as a guru, but as a fellow traveler. This space is my living notebook. A space for tools, truths, and reminders that you are capable, evolving, and never alone.
